- Determine current strengths and possible opportunities for improving Supply Chain Management service and operations;
- Address and make recommendations about organization structure, accountability and processes; and
- Review current supply chain and material handling operations from a process and operational efficiency standpoint.
B. Scope
SCA performs a review of materials functions and process order to determine how the hospital can enhance its current supply chain practice. Areas for review include:
Procurement
- Review the current organizational structure and operation of the procurement function
- Assess overall procurement processes as they relate to those that are among the best and accepted practices at other similar hospital operations
- Review current practices regarding the procurement of specialized products (i.e. Plant Operations, Dietary, Pharmacy, etc.);
- Make recommendations on the structure and the operation of the hospitals’ value analysis processes;
- Review policies surrounding the process for making capital purchases;
- Review the use of technology (i.e. MMIS, etc.) as it relates to and supports the supply chain operation;
- As appropriate make other recommendations for other operational changes that would create savings and/or enhance processes.
